As part of Year Six’s topic ‘Frozen Kingdom’ they created seal and polar bear sculptures using plaster bandage.
The first step was to create armature using plastic bags stuffed with newspaper and wrapped with tape. This was an easy way to create rounded bodies and heads. Cardboard was used for details like ears and tails.
After this children worked together to wrap the forms in plaster bandage. This is always a very messy process and covering surfaces and clothing is recommend!
Once dry children painted them taking care to try and match the colour of real polar bears and seals which are not actually white!
