Willow Dragonfly

In a first attempt at using willow to create sculptures I started this large piece at a course and continued it with groups of students. The willow was first soaked then bent to create the frame and covered with glue soaked tissue. We used coloured tissue to decorate the body and plastic wrap to give the wings a transparent effect.

Willow is great because it is so light weight which makes it perfect for suspending pieces high in classrooms short on display space.
